Expert Answers about Dodge Trailer Brake Controller

  • What Brakes With With Prodigy P3 Brake Controller
  • Hey Mike; thanks for the question and you will need electric brakes to go with the Prodigy P3 Brake Controller # 90195. To get the right ones you need to measure the diameter and depth of the drum of your hub. For example it measured 10" x 2-1/4" you would need the Electric Trailer Brakes - 3.5K # TRU36FR. You also need to check your brake mounting flange, as these would require a 4-bolt flange. I have added a link below to our entire selection of electric brakes for you which you can...

  • Adding Brakes To A 2004 U-Haul Tow Dolly
  • In order to add brakes to your tow dolly you'd first need to have a brake flange for the brake assembly to mount to. If you remove the wheel you'll be able to see the if there's a brake flange, like you can see on part # TRU74FR, or not. If not, you can get them welded onto the axle but the cost typically exceeds the cost of just replacing an axle because the weld has to be so precise. From there you would need to determine if you want to go with hydraulic or electric brake assemblies....

  • Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch For An Apex Nano 213RS Travel Trailer
  • Hey Jeff, When trying to figure out the best weight distribution hitch for your setup you'll need to get an accurate reading of the tongue weight when the trailer is fully loaded like you're ready to go to the campsite. Once you have this measurement you'll want to look at the capacity ranges of the hitches available and choose one that you fall in the middle of so that if you unload a bit during your trip or end up picking up some extras you'll have the capacity for it to be a smooth...

  • Recommended Suspension Enhancement for a 2024 GMC Canyon Pulling a Trailer
  • Personally I wouldn't go with Timbren's for your needs. They're essentially rubber bump stops that prevent your suspension from flexing when weights placed on the rear of your Canyon. The major issue with them is comfortability when you are not towing your trailer. These significantly affect the range of your suspension which can leave you with a stiff rigid feeling in the rear end. Plus if you hit a bump while there's weight on them they tend to bounce. Instead, I recommend the SumoSprings...

  • What is the Weight of Electric Ground Control TT Automatic 5-Point Travel Trailer Leveling System?
  • The Electric Ground Control TT Automatic 5-Point Travel Trailer Leveling System # LC672136 weighs a total of 484lbs. But do remember this is going to be replacing your current tongue jack and stabilizers so you are likely only looking at around a 200lb increase over your current weight with the additional electric jacks, bracing and wiring.

  • Recommended Weight Distribution System for a 7,500 lbs Trailer
  • I would be happy to! For your 7,518 lbs trailer you will want to confirm your total tongue weight before purchasing a hitch. Total tongue weight is the tongue weight of your fully loaded and ready to tow trailer plus the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. The easiest way to get an accurate tongue weight measurement is with a tongue weight scale like item # e99044 but there are other methods outlined in the included help article I linked below. Tongue weight...

  • How To Determine The Correct Replacement Brakes For Your RV/Boat Trailer
  • Hi Isaac, When replacing trailer brakes there's a few things to check to figure out the correct replacement. The first thing I start with usually is the axle capacity. If you can find the axle tag sticker on the axle tube we can use the information on it to determine the capacity. If the axle tag is gone then you can also just measure the hub/drum assembly like I have pictured below. We can then take those measurements to find the correct brake assemblies to fit the hub/drums.

  • axle
  • If your car trailer was built on mobile home axles you are going to have to replace the axles as there aren't braking components that will be made to fit them. You will need to measure the distance between your spring centers, distance from hub face to hub face, and the axle capacity you need.

  • Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch For A Jayco Jay Flight SLX 174BHW
  • Hi Bill, The Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control # FA92-00-0450 has a tongue weight range of 200lbs - 450lbs so you'd be right around the middle of the capacity when loaded, making this a great choice. This doesn't come with a hitch ball so you'll need either a 2" ball # 40038 or 2-5/16" hitch ball # C40005 depending on your coupler size. I've attached a short video below where we'll show you how this system works.

  • Recommended RV Entry Door Locking Latch Kit that Can Be Keyed Alike and Bluetooth Controlled
  • We only have one entry door lock that can be controlled through Bluetooth and keyed alike. I do not have any way of knowing what size cut-out that your 2022 Mini Lite 2516 travel trailer has, so you will want to verify the dimensions you need. It is the Global Link RV Entry Door Locking Latch Kit # GL55VR and it fits a cut-out size of 3-3/4" tall x 2-3/4" wide.

  • Surge Drum Brake Actuator Solution for Older Trailer that has 4 inch Wide Frame
  • I googled the grease seal number you mentioned and I did find some options online but when I looked up the size it wasn't one that we carry a suitable replacement for. For a coupler solution though you could use the Dexter part # T1607500 which you'd want to weld to the top of your trailer frame. It was not designed to fit over a frame channel so your width being wider than usual wouldn't be a factor.

  • Can Mobile Home Axles be Changed to 6- or 8-Lug Hub & Drum With Brakes
  • Hi Ron, So unfortunately mobile home axles can't be changed out to to different hubs and brakes as they are designed as a single-use axle (getting the mobile home from point A to point B). Meaning they don't have standard spindles for different hubs and drums. You can still get a 6- or 8-lug hub and drum, but you'd have to replace the axle. To do that you will need to know the dimensions of your current axle's hub face to hub face and spring center to spring center; I have added a link...

  • Recommended Replacement Brakes for a 2007 Pace Trailer w/ 15 Inch Rims
  • We sure do! The etrailer Electric Trailer Brakes item # AKEBRK-35 work with 3,500 lbs axles that have a 4 bolt mounting flange. These left and right 10" x 2-1/4" assemblies have rust-resistant, e-coated backing plates that work with 15" wheels. For hubs, I would need to know what size bearings you currently have and also your trailers lug pattern so you don't have to change your wheels. There are two ways to identify the bearings your spindle uses. Wheel bearings are stamped with the...

  • Recommended 6 Lug Axle to Replace a Mobile Home Axle
  • Robert, I suggest swapping the entire axle out with an axle that already has a 6 lug setup like the Dexter Trailer Axle w/ Electric Brakes # 7461121-EB. I would need to know what size axle you're needing, your hub face to hub face, and spring center to spring center measurements in order to get the ride sized axle.

  • Recommended Trailer Valet for a 9,400 lbs Trailer
  • Hey Gene! You're definitely going to want to go with the 12,000 lbs capacity Trailer Valet RVR12 Remote-Controlled Trailer Dolly item # TV59FR. The tongue weight capacity on the item # TVRVR9 is only 900 lbs so it will be way under rated for your Heartland trailer.

  • Recommended Suspension Enhancement for a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek
  • I wouldn't worry about adding anything to the front. The only reason you would want to add the Coil SumoSprings item # CSS-1125 to the front of your 2018 Crosstrek is if you had a front hitch or weight pushing down directly on your front axle. Since you're close to the towing capacity on your Subaru, I recommend using a weight distribution system to address the sagging in you're experiencing. The Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control item # FA92-00-0450 works with trailer's...

  • Solution for Replacing Welded-On Trailer Brakes on Old Car Trailer
  • That was enough information right there. If it is welded to the axle a modern replacement won't work. Unless you can find parts at a scrap yard you won't be able to get replacement parts for those brakes to rebuild them either. You will need to replace the axle like I mentioned before. You need the same length axle you have now, which is the hub face to hub face measurement, along with the same capacity. You can try to see if there is an axle tag on there identifying it. If not, it might...

  • Trailer Has A Bent Axle With 82" HF. What Are My Options For Replacing It?
  • Hey William, I am sorry to say that we do not offer an axle with those exact dimensions. Our closes option is the Trailer Axle Beam # e33GR. This axle is rated for 5,200 lbs and has a hub face to hub face (HF) measurement of 86-1/2". The only other option we can offer would be an Axle-Less setup like the Timbren # ASR3500S05 which is a 3,500 lb rated axle-less suspension system. You did not mention the weight capacity of the axle you are needing The Timbren setups are available in several...
